Easter Holidays: Visit The Explorer’s Workshop

Build your own discoveries and hear tales of wild expeditions. Join us this Easter as we invite the whole family to The Explorer’s Workshop at The National Museum of Denmark.
Meet brave explorers from icy polar regions to outer space, as author Line Friis Frederiksen shares stories of people who ventured into uncharted territories to explore the world.

Build your own raft like Thor Heyerdahl, mold a creative “poop” inspired by polar explorer Peter Freuchen, build a pyramid with the precision of Carsten Niebuhr, and design your very own space badge to get mission-ready just like astronaut Andreas Mogensen.

Line Friis Frederiksen will be storytelling about these adventurous expeditions on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at 11:00, 12:30, and 14:00, while the creative activities can be enjoyed every day of the Easter holidays from March 29th to April 5th, between 11:00 and 15:30.
Shape a Polar Poop like Peter Freuchen

Shape a Polar Poop like Peter Freuchen
Polar explorer Peter Freuchen survived a violent Arctic blizzard by digging himself free using a chisel crafted from his own frozen feces. In this activity, you’ll get the chance to mold your own creative “poop” out of clay. Whether it looks like a classic turd or a practical tool is entirely up to your imagination.
Build a Raft like Thor Heyerdahl

Build a Raft like Thor Heyerdahl
In 1947, Thor Heyerdahl sailed across the Pacific Ocean on the balsa wood raft Kon-Tiki. Build your own mini-raft using sticks, cardboard, and string – perhaps featuring a small cabin, a flag, or a crew ready for adventure.
Build a Pyramid like Carsten Niebuhr
3 / 5
Build a Pyramid like Carsten Niebuhr
The explorer Carsten Niebuhr mapped vast areas of the Middle East with precise measurements and charts. In this activity, you can build and decorate your own pyramid using cardboard templates and try your hand at the art of precision and measurement.
Design a Space Badge like Andreas Mogensen

Design a Space Badge like Andreas Mogensen
When Andreas Mogensen travelled into space as the first Dane ever, he wore a mission patch – a badge that tells the story of the journey. In this activity, you can design your own astronaut badge, so you’re mission-ready for your very own voyage into outer space.

Send a Postcard from Your Expedition
When you’re on a great voyage of discovery, there’s so much to tell those back home. Write a postcard to your loved ones so they can follow along on your many adventures from the expedition.

Remember your activities pass

With an activities pass in hand, you’re ready to take on the Greenlandic challenges. Buy the pass online or at the museum ticket desk.
