Book your next meeting or event with us

Looking for a venue with a historical setting for your next event?

Both private individuals and companies can rent a space at the National Museum, located in the iconic Prince’s Palace. We offer spaces suited for everything from intimate conversations and meeting to large events and parties of several hundred guests.

A tailor-made experience just for you

We design your event in close collaboration with you and Madkastellet – an award-winning restaurant with more than 15 years of experience, and the team behind Restaurant Smör, located at the museum. From table arrangements to the day’s menu, every detail is crafted with care.

We coordinate everything: interior setup, sound, and technical equipment, so you can concentrate on facilitating and celebrating. And if you want to give your guests something extra to talk about, your meeting or party can be combined with a guided tour through the museum's exhibitions.

The Main Hall

Host your party or event under the glass roof in the museum's beautiful main hall. It can be rented outside of the museum's opening hours and all day on Mondays during periods when the museum is closed to the public. The foyer is 450 m² with space for 288 seated guests and 400 standing guests.

Restaurant Smör

Restaurant Smör is the National Museum’s acclaimed restaurant, located on the first floor overlooking the Foyer. The cozy dining space seats up to 76 guests and is perfect for everything from standing receptions to festive Christmas parties. During the day, Smör operates as a lunch restaurant, so events can be booked starting from 6:00 PM.

Banquet Hall

The Banquet Hall features high ceilings and a unique historical atmosphere. The impressive columns and interiors date back to 1672, when the space served as Frederick III’s royal library. Today, the 225 m² hall creates an exceptional backdrop for your event. It is equipped with modern lighting and sound systems and can host 187 guests in rows of chairs, 90 in classroom style, 64 in group seating, or 200 for a standing reception.

The Cinema

The modern Cinema Theatre is elegantly designed with lime green Arne Jacobsen Series 7 chairs and a handwoven stage curtain by artist Naja Salto. It functions both as a cinema and an auditorium, offering excellent visibility and top-quality technical equipment. The cinema covers 170 m², including a 70 m² stage area—ideal for panels, performances, dancing, group work, or similar activities. There are 125 fixed seats, with room for up to 176 guests with added rows of chairs.

Meeting rooms

Hold your next meeting in one of our well-equipped conference rooms, overlooking the museum’s bright and elegant foyer. The 56 m² rooms include modern built-in AV equipment for easy self-service use. The space accommodates 40 guests in rows of chairs, 34 in classroom style, 25 in a U-shape, or 30 in a square setup. Contact us if you need to add one or more conference rooms when booking the Banquet Hall, Foyer, or Cinema Theatre — we’re happy to provide a great package deal.

The Glass Hall

The Glass Hall is ideal for meetings, conferences, and smaller-scale parties in a refined setting. The rear glass wall features a work by Aarhus-based artist Inge Dahl, allowing for a stunning influx of natural light. The 162 m² space seats 164 in rows, up to 130 at long banquet tables, or 200 standing without tables when a stage is in use.
