The whistleblower scheme for the National Museum
On this page, you will find the whistleblower scheme for the National Museum. You can use the whistleblower scheme to report illegal or reprehensible conditions related to the museum.
You can use the whistleblower scheme if you are or were employed at the National Museum, including as a volunteer or in an unpaid internship, if you are a partner, employed by a partner or subcontractor to a partner, with whom the National Museum has a collaboration.
What conditions are covered by the whistleblower scheme?
You can report to the whistleblower scheme regarding violations of EU law, for example, on public procurement, prevention of money laundering, etc., and serious legal violations or other serious matters of importance for the performance of the National Museum's tasks.
The following are examples of what may be considered serious legal violations or other serious matters of importance for the performance of the National Museum's tasks:
- Criminal offenses, such as breach of confidentiality, misuse of financial resources, theft, fraud, embezzlement, deception, bribery, etc.
- Serious or repeated violations of the law, such as the Administration Act, personal data protection legislation, the Freedom of Information Act or similar.
- Serious or repeated violations of administrative law principles, such as rules of impartiality, the requirement of relevance, and the principles of separation of powers or proportionality, etc.
- Serious or repeated violations of significant internal guidelines, for example regarding business travel, acceptance of gifts, accounting, etc.
- Resolve personal conflicts in the workplace, such as sexual harassment or sexism
- Deliberate misleading of citizens and partners.
You should always have concrete knowledge or a justified suspicion that such serious matters have been committed before you make use of the whistleblower scheme.
On anonymity and confidentiality
The National Museum's whistleblower scheme allows for the anonymous submission of information about questionable practices to a trusted whistleblower unit, which can investigate the matters further. Through the system, you can have a follow-up dialogue with the whistleblower unit. This dialogue is also anonymous if you choose not to disclose your identity.
The National Museum's whistleblower unit is anchored in Personnel under Operations and Administration, and only the trusted case handlers from the whistleblower unit can access your report.
If you submit information to the whistleblower scheme from a computer on the National Museum's network, or via the link to the digital whistleblower portal on the National Museum's website, this may be recorded as part of the regular logging of user activities on the National Museum's network. This can be avoided by entering the web address (https://natmus.sit-wb.dk) in a browser on a private or public computer that is not connected to the National Museum's network.
If you are not comfortable with reporting directly to the National Museum, or if you are in doubt whether your report will be handled objectively by our whistleblower unit, you can alternatively make your report to the Data Protection Agency, which provides an external and independent whistleblower channel.
The law on the protection of whistleblowers limits, in all circumstances, the circle of those who may be privy to a whistleblower's identity information – and information from which one can infer anything about it.
If you choose to provide identity information when submitting a report on the whistleblower portal, only the museum's whistleblower unit may be privy to them.
Information about a whistleblower's identity may only be disclosed to others with the whistleblower's explicit consent, unless the disclosure is made to another public authority – for example, the police – and for a narrow purpose defined by law – for instance, to prevent crimes.
Legal protection against reprisals
As a whistleblower, you are protected against reprisals under ACT no. 1436 of 29/06/2021 - Act on the Protection of Whistleblowers.
