The restaurant
When it's time for lunch
When your blood sugar dips and your brain needs a break, head up to our café on the first floor of the entrance hall. Here, you can refuel with classic Danish fare - open-faced sandwiches, herring, tarteletter, meatballs, and a kids’ menu.

The café

Coffee, cake and apple compote
At the café, you’ll also find sweet treats for visitors of all ages. Grab a slice of cake, a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, and recharge energy for the rest of your museum visit.

The lunchbox
Bring food from home
In our packed lunch area, there’s plenty of space to enjoy your homemade food. And if the weather allows, you can sit outside and top it all off with an ice cream from our kiosk or museum shop.

What is the taste of Denmark?
Together with Hansen's Ice Cream, we’ve tried to tell the story of Denmark in a single scoop. It’s red berry pudding with cream and pieces of licorice. Available exclusively at the National Museum of Denmark and associated museums.

Cheers to the future with flavours from the past
A mead brewed from the Völva’s herbal lore. The Völva’s magical henbane - once powerfully intoxicating - didn’t make it onto the ingredients list. But it does include herbs that symbolize light, life, and hope for the future: angelica, elderflower, and hemp, blended with redcurrant and, of course, fine Danish honey.
